Encuentro sBeach is the most consistent surf spot in the caribbean with over 320 days a year with waves and is the mecca of surfing in the Dominican Republic. This little beach in town is constantly celebrating a lot of events every year that focus on surf culture, local artists, and everything else in between.
One of the most famous events in Encuentro Beach is the WSL Cabarete Pro, a professional contest that tooks place for first time in Dom. Playa Neptuno at the malecon of Puerto Plata is a great place to learn to surf. With mellower waves than surrounding breaks, it offers the perfect place for beginners to build confidence. The sosft currents and gentle waves will have surf students returning to Playa Neptuno again and again. One of the more popular beaches in Puerto Plata because of its covenent location in the malecon of Puerto Plata and iconic places to visit in town . A beautiful strip, just over 1.8 mile, Malecon of Puerto Plata is in town and at the weeeks days can often allow visitors to find the beach nearly empty. With local shops and restaurants nearby, Playa Neptuno is the perfect place to do as the locals do and grab some waves.
